VRANA LABS
The Story of the Lab

Building with
Structural Integrity

A legacy of bridges, stone, and reliable systems.

Vrana Labs was not born in a startup incubator. It began in the mountains of Bulgaria, in a medieval fortress bought by a man who spent his life thinking about what makes a structure last.

His name was Lukan Vrana.

He grew up among the broken stone arches and collapsed walls of abandoned villages. He learned early that a builder's work can outlive them by centuries if built with the right intention.

“A bridge should look inevitable.”

— Lukan Vrana

In his teenage years he won a scholarship to study in England, boarding with an eccentric family in an aging mansion in Battersea. He studied structural engineering, but what fascinated him most was not modernity — it was endurance.

For decades he built bridges across continents. Known for designing beyond minimum requirements he would add strength where no one asked for it and never lost his fundamental belief that beauty and durability were not opposites.

The Stone Library

After the fall of Communism, he returned to his homeland and purchased a castle listed as irreparable. He restored it stone by stone, creating a space for study, contemplation, and craftsmanship. He lived simply, surrounded by his tools, handwritten notebooks, and antiquarian books.

Lukan believed that everything we build is a form of infrastructure. If the foundations are weak, the system eventually fails.

His daughter, Evelyn, joined him later. While Lukan worked with mortar and stone, Evelyn applied the same principles to digital systems.

A server should be as stable as a stone wall.

She saw how quickly digital information decays. To counteract the "fast" nature of the web, she began architecting local-first tools and resilient digital archives within the castle's thick stone walls.

“The internet is too fast. Then we must build structures within it.”

Vrana Labs continues their shared work. We build tools for clarity and utility, focused on structural soundness rather than digital spectacle.

Core Principles

Integrity

We build tools that work as intended, without hidden tracking or unnecessary dependencies.

Reliability

Everything runs locally. Your tools shouldn't break because a server is down or a company changed its API.

Utility

Functionality comes before decoration. A tool is only beautiful if it solves the problem effectively.

Privacy

Data is a liability. We design our systems so we never have to touch your information.

Simplicity

Complexity is the enemy of endurance. We keep our tools focused and lightweight.

The raven — vrana — is not a symbol of darkness here.
It is a keeper of memory. An observer. A witness.

Vrana Labs builds digital structures with the patience of stone.
